In the last three years you may have seen Tegan professionally whizzing around Alleys Restaurant expertly balancing heavy plates full of delicious food. You may have also seen her friendly face behind the bar or upstairs helping out at functions. But when Tegan’s not working, her face is normally hidden. Behind a book. Tegan takes being a bookworm to the next level. She never leaves the house without a book. To date, this year she’s read twenty five books!
We’ve also recently learnt that Tegan has a gorgeous Bookstagram page – an Instagram page centred on books. If you’re ever looking for ideas for a brilliant book to read, check out her Instagram page tea_reads_books. You’ll find gorgeous pictures of books, reviews and of course a ‘shelfie’ or two (Tegan’s enviable bookshelf!).
Tegan is a massive Harry Potter fan and re reads it once a year. She’s a Ravenclaw. Some of her other favourites are ‘Lord of the Rings’, ‘The Vampire Lestat’ by Anne Rice, ‘Animal Farm’ by George Orwell, ‘River God’ by Wilbur Smith and ‘Tuesdays with Morrie’ by Mitch Albom.
You’ll find a copy of ‘Tuesdays with Morrie’ which Tegan has kindly donated to Currumbin RSL’s Little Library Swap so make sure you have a read if someone hasn’t already beaten you to it!
Dragons are another one of Tegan’s favourite things. “My love for dragons started when I moved to Wales to grow up around my family. I was told stories and mythology of Welsh dragons as bed time stories by my Dad and was convinced they were real because there was one on the Welsh flag. A lot of my childhood reading involved dragons.”
As well as reading books and bookstagramming, Tegan is currently working on writing her own book – a historical fiction based around a Welsh Princess. We’ll let you know when it’s published. In the meantime, give her Instagram page tea_reads_books a follow!
