Tahlia Matheson began singing at age 8, music was always around her as she grew up watching her Dad play in bands around her home in the Byron Shire. Tahlia was always songwriting but when she was 14 she had a school assessment to write a song.
She sat down at the piano and started writing. From here she discovered her true love of songwriting and hasn’t stopped since. However, she has swapped the piano out for a guitar. In 2012 At age 16 Tahlia attended the Tamworth country music festival where she developed her love for country music This year she would also go on to be selected to perform on the busking stage at The Byron Bay Blues festival. She performed at both festivals again the next years as well as doing gigs around her home town.
At age 20 Tahlia travelled to Nashville Tennessee where she spent 5 weeks songwriting. While here she had the amazing opportunity to perform at The Blue Bird Cafe, to this day she still sees this as one of the highlights of her music career so far.
In 2018 after a couple years working and travelling the world Tahlia is back and in full force. Booking regular gigs up and down the east coast. She began the year off with a high being chosen to sing at The National Folk Festival in Canberra.
In July she travelled to London to attend an intensive songwriting workshop at The London institute of contemporary performance, where she received great feedback on her song writing and vocal skills. In late 2018 Tahlia released her debut EP ‘Wait and See’ containing 4 original songs. In 2019 Tahlia looks to take her music career to next level. With her will to succeed, sweetmelodies and strong vocals this talent is one to watch.
