CLUB ACCESS STATEMENT

Currumbin RSL

At Currumbin RSL we aim to ensure everyone’s visit and experience to our club is as enjoyable as
possible. We are committed to providing suitable access for all our guests, whatever their individual needs.
In this statement, we aim to accurately describe our facilities and services to give confidence that we
have the right venue(s) and can facilitate your specific requirements.

PARKING

 8 accessible car spaces provided
 All accessible car spaces are oversized for ease of parking and manoeuvrability
 Accessible car spaces are located closest to the club – only a very short distance to
the entry
 Covered porte cochere allows drop off prior to parking
 Parking spaces have no height limits
 All designated spaces are clearly marked and contained in a separate area
 Security and reception staff monitor use of the spaces to ensure accessible use only
 Clear and level access from the car spaces to the club entry
 There are no steps to enter the club and access via wheelchairs, walkers and the like is easy
 Car park is well lit, security camera monitored
 Courtesy buses provide driver assisted transportation within regional boundaries
 Taxi service or Uber assist service available – accessible vehicles available upon request

MAIN ENTRANCE

 Entry to the building is level with no stairs
 Doorway is covered completely weather-proof
 A double automatic door entry enables full accessibility
 Reception staff at main entry provide assistance and supervision if required

reception AREAS

 Entry to the club and reception area is stair free and level
 Doorway entry is via double sized automatic door
 Reception area offers comfortable seating for rest stops
 Reception staff available to offer assistance wherever necessary
 Loan wheelchair and walkers available for patrons whilst in the club
 Universal access restroom located at reception area (900mm wide doorway)
 Trained and accredited First Aid staff available on every shift
 ATM room provided with 1100mm wide door access
 Entry to La Bocca pizza and bottleshop areas are by double doors (1700mm width)

COMMON AREAS

 Ground level of club houses restaurant, café, bar, gaming, functions rooms, TAB
and 3 x designated and separate accessible toilets
 External deck area accessible on ground level (1400mm doorway)
 Accessible lift access to first floor for functions venues and toilet facilities
 All passageways are large and wide enough for wheelchairs / walkers / prams
 Signage throughout club is easily recognisable for venue access
 Floorcoverings are tiles on major walkways and low pile commercial carpet – all
wheelchair / pram / walker friendly
 Mobility equipment able to move freely around all furnished areas
 Seating areas able to house wheelchairs for group seating
 Tables can have a wheelchair seated at them
 Double door access to smoking areas from gaming room and bar areas
 Facilities made available for service animals upon request

RESTAURANT

 Full one level accessibility to the restaurant and terrace areas
 A purpose-built accessible restroom is within short distance
 Accessible restroom also equipped with baby change table

 Tables can have a wheelchair seated at them
 Some staff with Auslan training
 Table service provided
 Payment station allows accessibility
 Service animals permitted in restaurant – facilities provided upon request
 Service staff assist with menus
 Urgent turnaround meal option choice available
 Menu choices offer Gluten Free, Vegetarian, Vegan options
 Chefs can cater for dietary deviation from the menu on an as needed basis
 Accessibility to outdoor eating on external deck overlooking the creek available

 Gaming machines located on one level for full accessibility
 Aisles 2.2m wide
 Wheelchair / walker friendly poker machines provided
 Double door access (1900mm) to smoking areas

CONFERENCE FACILITIES

 1 x venue located on ground level. Other venues located on first floor – lift access available
 Multiple interconnected venues on first floor provide a variety of size options
 Accessible restroom provided on both levels
 Wheelchairs / walkers / prams able to move freely around furnished areas
 Tables can have a wheelchair seated at them
 Extensive audio / visual hardwired system available in all venues
 Extensive menus for conferences
 Variations to menus possible for customised dietary needs

VISION

 Provision made for service dogs in all venues

HEARING

 Some staff have basic Auslan sign language skills
 All screen promotions use text for clear messages
 RSL Ode (presented every evening at 6pm) fitted with Auslan signing
