27th April 2010, 11:34am
Limited Edition ‘To the Sunburnt Ear’ Poem – written and spoken by Tony Gunter
Currumbin RSL would love to thank everyone who came along to our dawn service on Sunday April 25. The turn out was fantastic.
Tony Gunter gave a heartfelt speach on the significance of Anzac Day and the term ‘Lest we Forget’.
The RSL has received many requests for the poem ‘To the Sunburnt Ear’ written by Mr. Gunter, who has now recorded this meaningful poem and has them for sale at the RSL.
Don Taylor, ABC Radio
“Tony Gunter’s acknowledgement of gratitude to the Australian service men and women in the poem “To The Sunburnt Ear” is one of the most moving, heartfelt tributes ever written. And you can feel the honesty and emotion in Tony’s recording. I have had the pleasure over a number of years of playing Tony’s “To The Sunburnt Ear” on the Anzac Day radio program. I am so glad that it is now more widely available. Every school kid should hear this. And every serviceman and women too, to know how grateful we are for the freedom we enjoy. Freedom comes with a price that they have paid and continue to pay.
Thanks Tony, Ron and Currumbin RSL”.
