The spirit of Christmas on the Gold Coast lives on through the legacy of Wendy Taylor and her exquisite collection of Christmas pieces which now make the Christmas Village scene at Currumbin RSL.
Until her untimely passing in 2014, Wendy collected village pieces and all things Christmas for over 14 years which now makes up this beautiful exhibition for the club’s members and guests to enjoy.
The village is a representation of how Wendy felt about Christmas – beautiful, festive and full of love and togetherness.
Wendy will always be remembered for her compassion and love. She always loved purchasing things for people to see and more importantly to enjoy. The Christmas Village is such a heart-warming and wonderful display that allows guests and members to feel the ambience of Christmas.
Wendy Taylor was the founder of the Fun N Ageless group here at Currumbin RSL, which is now presently run by Sustainability & Community Relations manager, Kerry Shepherd.
The display of the Christmas Village will be here until the New Year in honour of Wendy and her dedication to the festive season.
The display has been consistently installed on an annual basis since 2014 and as of this year has been very generously donated by the Taylor Family to the Club.
As Wendy would have intended and would have wanted we will continue to honour Wendy’s legacy as an exhibition here at club annually over the Christmas season with her Village display allowing people of all ages to get excited.
Community Relations Manager Kerry says, “The display is such a magnificent collection that makes up such a heart-warming feeling for those that walk through our doors here at the club. Wendy would be so happy and we want to ensure that her legacy lives on”.
‘I want the children and families to get excited from these beautiful things… dream a little and love Christmas’. – Wendy Taylor
