Remembrance Day 2011

November 10, 2011

11/11/11

The Eleventh hour of the Eleventh day of the Eleventh month of the year 2011 is a unique chronological moment in time and will be the ninety third Anniversary of the signing of the Armistice signifying the end of World War one. A chapter in time of death, misery, carnage and sorrow and it is on this day our nation pauses at the Eleventh hour to acknowledge with sadness the extraordinary losses the young nations of Australia and New Zealand have suffered as a result of the Great War.

On this day Currumbin Palm Beach RSL will traditionally reflect on our national losses from all wars and conflicts that have occurred during the last century. In doing so, acknowledge the extraordinary obligations that have fallen upon young Australians, in pursuit of world peace. As Australians and New Zealanders we will always remember them on this special day.

Remembrance Day Service:
Commence at 10.10am with the very solemn White Cross of Remembrance Ceremony. Members of the community that have lost loved ones as a direct result of war or for those who have since succumbed, can lay a White Cross of Remembrance.

Remembrance Day Cenotaph Service:
Commence at 10:30am with the positioning and Taking Post of the Ceremonial Parties onto the Cenotaph followed by the formal proceedings which lead up to The Bell Tolls for the Eleventh Hour on our day of Remembrance and the Bugler playing of the Last Post.

Remembrance Day Conclusion:
Conclusion at 11:40 am with the Releasing of the white Doves for peace on earth and the traditional Albert Battery Volley Fire of Remembrance for Fallen Comrades out of respect for our own, who have fallen before this day.

On behalf of Currumbin Palm Beach RSL I extend an invitation to the Community to be with us on this day, to lay a Cross of Remembrance and reflect on the past efforts of those who gave their lives for us to be where we are today, living in peace, in the most beautiful country on earth.

Special Guest this year will be Mr. and Mrs. Keith Payne VC OAM DSC SS (US)

Sincere Regards

Ron Workman OAM
