Australian Care Parcels
January 10, 2011
Australian Care Parcels are sent to Australian troops serving oversees by generous people like you and me. The cost is small but the reward great!
Currumbin RSL sub branch is heavily involved with this initiative through the Gold Coast District RSL and you can find out more through the link above.
The letter below was sent from Wayne McKenna a medical mentor in Afghanistan
Dear Currumbin RSL
I would like to express our gratitude for your time and effort that has been generously shown to support our troops, I received a package on Christmas day that was opened and gratefully enjoyed by many of my work mates and of course myself, of course I ate the XMAS cake with the coffee
I cannot thank you enough and show our gratitude to what it means to receive an Australian care package from Aussies who have in many cases been in the same type of situation as us, except we now have emails to make life slightly easier.
I guess your team is wondering who has eaten their generous care package??. My name is WO2 Wayne B McKenna, I belong too MTF-2, a Medical Mentor, which means I train to sustain the Afghani Army medical teams and to allow them to build a better Army for their defence. The team I am apart of is based out of Tirin Kot, Uruzgan province. You will be pleased too know although getting extremely cold we are holding up well and to be sent care packages just makes it that little bit better and tolerable.
Once again I thank you and all of those that have contributed in the parcel program.
P.S I will certainly take you up on the complimentary drink when I return!!
From one Defence member to another we thank you whole heartedly and your picture is now on our hall of fame.
I have also included a picture of our team this also includes 5 Slovakian mentors, hope you like the photo.
Merry Xmas and a prosperous New Year to all
Wayne McKenna
