New Pathways For Veterans

The Veteran's Support Centre has launched The Young Veterans Support Services Program to build new pathways for veterans and their families to better reactivate social engagement and employment opportunities within the Gold Coast community.

Central to the program is educating Gold Coast businesses on the desirable skills that military personnel bring to the workplace including critical thinking and problem solving, experience in working in diverse and fast changing environments, leadership and teamwork capabilities, dependability, loyalty and integrity as well as precision, coordination and accuracy.

Currumbin RSL CEO Anne Stovin says this program fits with companies that have established clear diversity workplace guidelines as well as those businesses looking to tap into the professional attributes that veterans have developed over their military career.

The Young Veterans Support Services Program also includes weekly social activities for veterans and their families. The Veteran’s Support Centre offers a range of other support services including a psychologist and advocacy services.
