A message from Soldier On

As we prepare to remember and pay respect to those who have served Australia and perhaps also made the ultimate sacrifice, it is equally important that we continue to remember those who are still with us and doing it tough as a result of their service.

ANZAC DAY 2017 will soon be upon us.

Anniversaries are always challenging for those who have lost mates and who themselves may be struggling with physical and mental injuries as a result of their service. ANZAC Day is probably one of the most significant anniversaries on the Australian calendar and therefore potentially challenging for veterans as well as currently serving ADF men and women.

Currumbin RSL and Soldier On are acutely aware of the fact that there are those in our immediate community who are struggling but who may not have sought professional assistance. We would like to remind these men and women, as well as those that care about them, that Currumbin RSL is sponsoring a Clinical Psychologist from Soldier On to provide evidence-based assessment and treatment of contemporary veterans at our Veterans’ Support Centre adjacent to the Currumbin RSL Club.

If you, or anyone you know, is struggling as a result of their service we encourage you to make contact with Mr Brett Rufus our resident Clinical Psychologist from Soldier On.

For enquiries or to make an appointment, please email Brett at:

psychology@soldieron.org.au or visit or call the Veterans’ Support Centre at 164 Duringan Street, Currumbin – 07 5559 5022

It is important and right that we should honour the service of those men and women who have gone before us. It is just as important however that we honour the service of those who are still with us by providing appropriate support to see them through the potentially life-threatening effects of their service.
